Born on a farm in Iowa, I started teaching myself SoftImage XSI during high school after being inspired by Half-Life 2 and its concept art book. I attended Iowa State University's Studio Art degree for a few years, but transferred to Full Sail University in Orlando to get my degree in Game Art. After graduation, I was picked up by Army Game Studio as a prop artist then later a character artist. I'm also an Army Reservist as a Combat Engineer until May '13 when my six years are up and I'm out.

In my free time, I'm often sculpting up busts or character ideas, riding/fixing my motorcycle, or playing video games online with friends. The last few years I've been trying to learn German as a foreign language; I love the challenge of applying new rules and vocabulary to express my thoughts. Meine Grammatik ist noch nicht sehr gut, aber ich noch versuche lernen. I'm a gun nut enthusiast and love spending time at the range. I love the outdoors and I try to stay active as much as possible: hiking, climbing, jogging, whatever.

I'm a Maya / Zbrush user, though I'm flexible in learning new software should the need arise. I use Photoshop for all my texture work, sometimes cleaning seams in Mudbox if it's available. I bake normal maps with xNormal and render my shots in either Marmoset or Unreal for game meshes and Zbrush for high res meshes.
